Declare Your Interdependence!

Now that we’ve celebrated Independence Day, I’d like to suggest a greater event to celebrate — our INTER-dependence. But not as a day — as a way of life. Humans go through several stages of relationship on their course of development. First comes dependence – which we experience as baby and child when we depend on our parents and our community to keep us safe as we grow and teach us “the ropes.” Then comes independence, when we can care for ourselves and even teach the younger generation. Then, there’s this backward dysfunctional stage called “co-dependency” that unenlightened civilizations detour into called “co-dependency.” Suckled on a worldview of self-focus or what I call “separation consciousness,” a civilization emerges that does not know how to truly love or contribute harmony. For them power through possessing is their primary lens through which they understand the world. They grow up self-focused, fearful and emotionally imbalanced. From this imbalanced emotional state they try to connect with others. But because of a misguided understanding of how relationship with others should work, they wind up offering the other something in an unspoken exchange for something in return. In this way, the relationship is not based on pure sharing but on condition: “I love you because….” or “As long as you (fill in the blank), I will love you.” (Or rather I will give you my time, attention and approval and my body).

Sadly, far from being a short detour, co-dependency is the typical state of relationship in our culture. This is true not only in romantic relationships but in friendships, family and business relationships. There is a great, empowering leap to be made across the chasm between co-dependence and interdependence. If this leap is made successfully, we find out true freedom. Whereas co-dependency is the downward, relationship-deteriorating spiral, interdependence is the way to life-generating relationships, the upward spinning spiral that elevates man on every level.

How do we make this leap successfully? First we must understand that the interdependent model is the model that all life thrives within. It is the model of the universe: unity among diversity. This means that each individuated being from the smallest microbe to the largest planet moves synergistically with one another. This means we embrace one another’s differences because the differences support the whole. It requires that we strive to be authentic and protect life so life can thrive. It promises that we are great in the truest sense when others are great in the truest sense; we are healthy when the least of us is healthy and if there is pain or suffering in some area of life, it will reach us in some way. It also means that where we have an unhealthy world-view or harmful attitude or take more than we need, we will suffer personally for that imbalance we have contributed. Simply put, all of life is interconnected. We can resist this truth and die from the consequences or we can embrace this truth and thrive!

How will we gain our true sovereignty as individuals and as a planetary community? When we celebrate interdependence and revere it every day of the year. This, my friends is the new frontier, the destiny we are divinely ordained to manifest, the call for today’s pioneers — pioneers who know that there is a greater gold rush to tap than the one in the mid-1800’s. The gold of the life-force gushing from the opening hearts of enlightened humans. Here’s to making that “Westward Ho” over the mountains of our misguided cultural programs and social conditioning and through the rivers of our emotional imbalances that have led us into co-dependence. Let’s shed those uncomfortable uniforms and have a new revolution for the kind of freedom that truly puts an end to the tyranny of our lives. Let’s declare our INTER-dependence!

The Art of Transfiguration

Thank you for your comments requesting more about my personal journey. It’s wonderful to know we are on the same wavelength. This is a highly conscious group, attuned both personally and collectively to a greater understanding of who we are—striving to fulfill our human potential—rather than shuffling along robotically into further states of mutation, sickness, depression, addiction, and disempowerment. In this spirit, I am more than happy to share my journey with you.

The way I have come to see this process in full scope is as a kind of transfiguration. Transfiguration means a complete change of one’s state of being. This is not just a change of form or external appearance, but of the entire being, inside and out: from the cellular level to the thought level, from our biochemical composition (our skeletal-muscular and cell-tissue-organ systems) to our subatomic wave frequencies. In fact, if it were legal for me to say so, as a non-medically trained healer, I might go so far as to say that transfiguration is the cure for all disease.

Transfiguring the host of a disease in one state of biochemistry/frequency to a whole other elevated state of biochemistry/frequency would result in sure dissolution of the disease. The symptoms (the expressions of disease) caused by the old state of being would dissipate just as surely as humidity dissipates in the desert. Conditions determine disease or wellness—physical, mental, and emotional. Change the conditions; change the manifestation. In other words, transfigure the host and you eradicate the viability of disease.

That is the secret to absolute healing. You can change your being and your life at every level when you know how to think about yourself and your reality. We will explore this more fully later on. In the meantime, just know it is a powerful tool of perception—arguably the most powerful agent of change we have. The art of transfiguration has been buried and lost to modern civilization. But if you are willing to do a bit of excavating, you can unearth it and wield its full magic!

Transfiguration is the elevation of the whole, integrated network of one’s being. One’s consciousness, emotions, physicality, mentality, subatomic wave frequency/vibration are wholly and extraordinarily elevated. This elevation is possible for anyone who desires it strongly enough, without exception. It is my aim to shed light on how to initiate and fulfill your own transfiguration—to give you the tools to the magic.

At first, the idea of transfiguration may sound a bit overwhelming to you, but I feel that we are all up for this. It’s time to stop sitting in the old energy that brings nothing but sadness, suffering, disease and pain. It’s time to take the leap.

Before I go on, I’d like to point out my own personal view of transfiguration. I do not see it as a linear leap forward. Humans today are in a degenerated state. As a species, we are in many ways worse off today than we were in a previous era. I feel we have mutated and become disfigured, and therefore are far from our natural state of being. Transfiguration is necessary to regenerate this lost purity, to return us to our natural state. Only then, once we’ve recovered this lost ground through transfiguration, will we be able to employ transfiguration to advance our evolution.

How do I know this? Because it is well documented that many an indigenous people enjoyed the kind of health, balance, vitality, intuition, shared knowledge, and strong, loving, interconnected communities that we can only dream about today. It was not until they were infected with the “civilized” world’s greed and hunger for power that these communities atrophied. Native Americans had a term for the Europeans’ contagious disease—Witeko, a form of cannibal psychosis, consuming human lives through greed, aggression, and cruelty. (For more on this subject, I recommend reading: Columbus and Other Cannibals by John D. Forbes.)

By studying indigenous peoples, it is clear that the great minds and creators from 10,000 years ago were collectively more evolved than we are today. Somewhere along the way, our trajectory of thought and behavior (outgrowths of our mental conditions and worldview) veered away from human progress in the true sense of the word.

At first, like any slightly off-kilter trajectory, the deviation was not so obvious. But the further afield the trajectory moved away from conditions that supported human and planetary evolution, the more degenerated the results. Like Hansel and Gretel, we have lost our way, and will need all our wits to find our way back home. Thankfully, there is a code we can use to realign our course. It’s called The Universal Laws of Life.

We can reverse the mutation and return to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. In this natural state of being, we will feel the depression and dissatisfaction melt away as waves of peace and joy surge up within us. The best we can hope for from the old trajectory is stimulation, simulated pleasure, and false security. Many of us have always sensed this cannot be right, that there is so much more to humanity and life. But it is not enough to sense it; we have to act on this feeling, to act upon it through transfiguration. We owe it to ourselves, to our loved ones, and to the world around us!

Someone recently pointed out to me that to the average person I sound really radical, but that in fact my perspective is really grounded and rational. It’s remarkable that we live in a world where sanity is seen as radical and insanity is accepted as sane. So I urge you to consider the facts of the modern world very carefully and decide which norms are in fact sane or insane.

This journey requires dedication, discipline, and, most of all, a deep desire to recover our humanity in its natural, healthy state. It requires the kind of vision, passion and hard work required to move mountains—only, in this case, the mountains we wish to move are entirely man-made! But once you move your first mountain, and then the next, you’ll gain strength and momentum. It’s the initial leaps that are the hardest, but they will bring profound shifts in perspective and inner balance that will make the steps that follow far easier—even enjoyable!

Transfiguration leads to ultimate freedom, power, health and wealth—the sort that you carry within you, that you can access through conscious choice, and that can never be taken from you against your will.

In fact, “will” is a key term here. You can will this process into being and multiply its fruits by the power of your will. Think of your will as your focused intent and the actions and thoughts that proceed from it. When your will lines up with the life-generating Universal Laws, you will be able to move mountains. You will be amazed at your own power! And you will feel such love, praise and gratitude that life is beautiful and that you are worthy of it, and that your thoughts and actions can be good and graceful and life-generating. You will look back on your previous incarnation as a sickly host to greed, strain, worry and fear, and you will see how far you’ve come. And then you will set your sights on the next elevation.

The art of transfiguration has always been there. You just had to learn how to work with it.

More to come…

In our beautiful unity,
Natalia

Till All Success Be Nobleness

I discovered this work in a moment in my life when I was at a serious crossroads. As many of you may have read in my personal story in the Detox Community, I struggled a lot with being in a body and in a world of untruth (though I didn’t understand it quite this way at that time). So much so that I either had to discover a life-changing breakthrough or leave this world behind. It’s often a rock-bottom moment that catalyzes the greatest change. Only when life-depleting patterns wear us down do we become hungry and open enough to receive something completely new and life-saving.

Well, the other day, for the first time in perhaps months, I switched on the television. I was thinking I would jump on my trampoline and stretch to some daytime television for laughs. I was immediately reminded of why I keep that devise switched off. All the programs—every talk show, drama, movie, and commercial—were produced not only to reach the lowest common denominator, but also to program the consciousness of the viewer!

How is it that millions of people can sit around allowing their minds to be programmed by the subliminal messages in the ads and shows? How does anyone believe that a fat-free, 80-calorie yogurt is going to make them thin? How does anyone not see that the actress promoting denture grips only needs dentures because she has been eating steak and other unfit foods for decades? While one commercial sells and glamorizes the consumption of inhuman substances, the next one celebrates the innovation of a drug, denture cream, or incontinence product. Why don’t people make the connection? If I let the whole thing get to me, I would go out of my tree!

Instead, I switch it off. But all the while, millions of people go on watching. I think it’s good to check in on what the masses are doing now and then—to come down from my clean-celled mountaintop experience and be reminded that my purpose here is to be of service. The trouble is that when I take a look at all the norms of society, I come face to face with the disturbing causes and effects that I know will follow.

All the lies—from which I only escaped by the skin of my teeth, years ago—are still out there, clutching people so tightly that they can barely breathe. What force is driving the rampant ignorance and over-consumption? The answer: the greed and power of corporations and their minions. But for such programmed thinking to take root at all, people must blindly accept and follow whatever the machinery of our mainstream culture feeds them. This is an important point because it means that the programmers could just as easily be disempowered, if only people woke up and rejected their programs! I believe that if we expose the folly and offer people a new way to care for their bodies, they will be pleasantly astonished and thus more open to revolutionizing other areas of their lives.

Even if we are unable to see the causes and the effects of our actions, we are still subject to them. It brings me great happiness to see more and more people learning to see through the lies, but what of the millions upon millions of those who remain in the dark? They keep handing more power to those who are enslaving them! This is not a conspiracy theory, but a tragic truth of the modern age. Living in disharmony with the laws of life cause all the pain and disease in our world. Brand marketing and pharma-government “health care” are power- and money-driven enterprises that have little to do with what is true or good for us. Don’t be fooled by their consumer-messaging strategy. All you have to do is step out from the ranks of the living dead to recognize this. The trouble is that most people surrendered their own clear-eyed authority to the mental and behavioral programming long ago.

Self-government is what we should be able to achieve as a society. Not anarchy, but SELF-GOVERNMENT. Self-government works when we have such a strong moral compass and are so in touch with the truth (not dogma, not religion) of clean living that any larger body of government is not only superfluous, but an insult. But when I look around, I see our country adrift in highly dangerous waters, far from the grounding wisdom of self-government.

I have loved this country with all my heart, but once again, I now find myself at a personal crossroads where I know there must be a breakthrough or else certain disaster. Key liberties are sifting through our fingers like sand because too large a portion of the population has been hypnotized, turned into marionettes in the greedy hands of power and consumerism. The powerful few are ruining the country for the rest of us. In this world of duality, of light and dark, light must regain its rightful percentage of power in order to survive. But darkness is snuffing out so much of our human potential and breeding scary new paths to destruction. Just for example, consider the irradiation of all non-organic greens because of a spinach scare a few years ago, or the swine flu (more on this later).

Yet, most Americans seem content as long as Walmart and Dunkin’ Donuts remain open. It is actually pretty impressive: In the last fifty years, the power-driven few, the so-called tastemakers, have managed to render more than 95 percent of Americans brain-dead while still showing a pulse and holding down a job and family.

I’ve held my tongue long enough. It’s time to get more vocal, to seize the chance to wake everyone up. I believe in the highest good of humankind and the beauty that we all have the potential to manifest. But we cannot manifest goodness and beauty until we detonate the old, destructive blueprint that has imprisoned the masses and replace it with a life-generating one. No one can achieve this alone. It takes a world of intrepid individuals who share a vision and take the initiative to build on it.

There is work to be done. We can still get excited about fitting into cute clothes and swapping cleansing recipes in the short term, but we must also work to cleanse the world of all the lies, programs, and agendas that hold our futures and our children’s futures in jeopardy. We need to expand our consciousness beyond the limits of self-identity and assume our places in the human community. It all starts with the desire to see and learn the universal laws of life. As more and more of us do this, we will lift the consciousness of those around us. Eventually, we as a people of higher consciousness will be able to dissolve the programs that have for too long robbed us of our personal liberties.

From the overcrowded arteries of New York City to the sleepy byways of small towns across America, we have communally surrendered mass quantities of our personal liberties over to sales agendas of all kinds. We have surrendered our power to think for and govern ourselves. And the more we buy into the lies, the more we surrender.

Now, to top it all off, the government wants to make flu and swine flu vaccinations mandatory. The first step is to scare us with propaganda, to make us sufficiently frightened for our lives, and then present the miraculous vaccine that will save us. Now, if you know how disease originates and the conditions viruses require in order to thrive, you would not be frightened at all by this hype, much less permit the vaccine to be pumped into your bloodstream (with who knows what ingredients controlling DNA codes and triggering cellular dissonance). But just like the millions of people who get the flu shot, run/walk for cancer, and take cold suppressants and vitamin supplements, those who do not understand how the body works will line right up and even thank the government for its generosity.

This time, schools will be the site of mass inoculations. They say swine flu has a particular penchant for the under-25 set. In fact, a school in Montgomery, NJ, held a mock practice inoculation last week—that’s right, to give the kids a certain sense of comfort and courage in preparation for the event. As each child went through the mock drill, they were rewarded with a gift and praised for being “good germ fighters.”

Of course this is all in the name of protecting children—to the tune of a $20,000 grant from the New Jersey Health Officers Association in cooperation with the state Department of Health. But the parents—regardless of socio-economic standing—seem oblivious of what’s going on. The majority of the students in my children’s classes are fed “school lunch”—that revolting, toxic sludge that gets mixed up with lard, sugar, and salt and is served with a spork. Parents are so uneducated about health that they will follow the government down any misguided path. Instead of questioning the government’s vaccination requirement, the majority of parents appreciate it! Most parents will continue blindly accepting whatever the government and the food industry offer until something terrible enough happens to wake them up. Sadly, this comes at the expense of our children’s blood chemistry!

So, will we make a breakthrough in this moment when the world has set up all these misguided causes that are leading to tragic effects? Will we wake up and change ourselves and our society, or will we just sit and watch the consequences tumble like an avalanche around us until we are snuffed out? There’s no time to snooze, my friends. We must take full responsibility for recognizing what is going on and act accordingly.

I have always been a patriot. My family lineage dates back to the Revolutionary War, and I have romanticized this country as much as anyone. But in expanding my consciousness, I have come to recognize the limitations of thinking as isolated groups or nationalities. We are an evolving, interconnected humanity. In that light, I urge you to contemplate these great lyrics as I do now—not as a citizen of one country or another, but as a citizen of life.

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

—From “America the Beautiful,” words by Katharine Lee Bates, melody by Samuel Ward

Declare Your Independence!

If I had to choose a favorite holiday, I would choose Independence Day. This is not merely because it is the least consumer-oriented holiday or because I love my country (which I do), but it’s also because independence and freedom—on both the microcosmic and macrocosmic scale—are so essential to our lives.

I like to think of every day as a personal Independence Day. As a human on this earth, and particularly in this country, I can walk through life every day choosing what to allow into my sphere and what will ultimately make up my life experience. We each have the freedom to do this, but it takes vision, courage, and, yes, sometimes our own revolutionary war to reach that level of sovereignty. But once we win that sovereignty, we must protect it: we must soldier on and defend ourselves from destructive forces.

Some of you have had to soldier through a lot of conflict in pursuit of your personal freedom. This is a time to celebrate your hard-won independence, your triumph over false rulers. You’ve charted new lands (hopefully you were nice to the natives!). But, of course, this is only the beginning. You must set up essential infrastructures in this new land—for example, adjusting your grocery list, ensuring a daily intake of green juice, and scheduling rebounding time.

Your ability to maintain your independence and freedom is directly related to the governing body you put in place. Do you have a good Bill of Rights? A strong Constitution? Are your desires, intentions, and actions in harmony? Let’s not forget Abraham Lincoln’s famous words: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” He went on to specify: “this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free.” Nor can you remain sovereign in the detox lifestyle and enjoy its abundant fruits if you are divided—part slave to the social norms, part free. Eventually the societal riptide will pull you under. Short-lived firecracker enthusiasm won’t cut it. Those who succeed in the long term are vigilant, flexible where needed, and have the stamina and strategy of great generals to defend their hard-won liberty, day by day!

Now let’s turn our attention to our troops and our veterans. When we think of supporting our troops, we usually think in terms of moral support, patriotic support, or financial support. Sometimes, we tend to support our soldiers like a cheering squad who sits around doing our nails while the team hustles out on the field; the cheerleaders merely pop out of their seats every now and then with a “sis-boom-ba!” The life of our nation and our planet is not at a pep rally or a football game. So why do we send our troops off to war while we watch our nails dry?

Whether fighting in the caves of Afghanistan or taking musket in hand against the redcoats, our soldiers on the front lines need our support on the home front. We, too, must be warriors (albeit peaceful ones), ever alert against forces that impinge on our freedoms. We must start at home, where the social norms of consuming hours of mindless media and heaps of packaged foods and unfit substances render us mere marionettes. We must begin with ourselves, and then lovingly nudge others awake to all that threatens our freedom. If mainstream forms of consumption, health care, and self-maintenance are turning us into addicts and slaves to widespread disease, it’s time to take a stand! We are the soldiers at home, so let’s defend freedom and independence right here!

Otherwise, despite all the lives and limbs lost by our troops and the trillions spent on the greatest weaponry in the world, we will have passively yet unforgivably allowed the deterioration of our hard-fought freedoms. I love my country deeply and I do not want to see this happen. But it is happening, just like rogue bacteria is taking over the intestine of the average unsuspecting American. We remain blind to that which is eating away at our liberties—from both the inside and the outside—at our own great peril.

I would like to suggest a new way of supporting our troops and honoring our veterans: via the path of personal responsibility. We support them by strengthening our country at home, starting with ourselves. We, as ambassadors of peace and a people of higher knowledge, each take responsibility for our own personal harmony. The more peace, love, and understanding we emit, the greater our chances of one day achieving peace on earth. It will only take a small percentage of people with a higher consciousness to ignite this movement—then it will spread like a glorious wildfire!

The more we depend on our soldiers to maintain our independence as a free nation without supporting their efforts from home and from within, the more we stand to lose. The good microbes can only fight off so much yeast and harmful bacteria. The inhabitant of the body must back up the troops with smart choices! Just as each cell in the body is a hologram of the entire body, we are each a hologram of our nation. Let us support our troops, our forefathers, and the birth of a beautiful new world.

Let freedom ring! Happy 4th!

Love,
Natalia

A Tribute to Michael Jackson and Neda Agha-Soltan

What do Michael Jackson and Neda Agha-Soltan, the beautiful young Iranian girl shot through the heart in Tehran earlier this week, have in common? They are mirrors—or what I like to call “perception-givers.” Their lives and deaths reflect to us the tragic effects of our commonly accepted ways of seeing, being, and engaging.

My father, Ben Barrett, was in the music business and recorded a great deal of Michael Jackson’s music—from the early days with the Jackson Five right up to the “Dirty Diana” album (one of the last albums he recorded before his death in 1992). My brother Roman and I spent a lot of time in the studios when our dad was recording; he would even take us with him on the nightshifts. So the two of us spent time with Michael playing video games and consuming “studio snacks” (sugar cubes, Hershey’s Kisses, Melba Toast, and Coffee-mate). Michael was always kind and engaging—never once inappropriate with us, just for the record.

I imagine that just about everyone born prior to 1980 feels an emotional tug in response to the news of Michael’s death. He was, after all, probably the most famous person after Jesus and Elvis. I’m certainly not immune. But what I feel is a tremendous relief for him. I can’t help but feel like Grace released him from the torment of his existence.

For many years, Michael lived with his parents and siblings down the road from us in Encino, California, on a street called Havenhurst just off the main road of Ventura Blvd. (famously referenced in Tom Petty’s hit “Free Fallin’” for you music trivia buffs). When he was a kid, Michael and his brothers would ride their bikes up to our house and visit my dad. Just take a moment to imagine Michael as a ten-year-old—that gorgeous little boy singing “My Cherie Amour”—riding his bike around his neighborhood like any ordinary, innocent kid. He was beautiful and, by anyone’s standards, uncommonly talented.

His father, as it is famously documented by his sister Latoya’s memoirs, was a hideous character. He was dominating, violent, and abusive. Young Michael’s truth was usurped by his father’s soul-annihilating abuse. From his father’s behavior and words came the stories and lies (reinforced by those who neither challenged them nor taught Michael to challenge them) that would imprison Michael for the rest of his life. To varying degrees, we have all accepted the stories and lies imposed upon us as children.

Yet, despite this, young Michael’s light shone so brightly. The brighter a light shines in the presence of a bully stuck in darkness, the more desperate that bully becomes to snuff out that light for fear of exposure. Many of us, in our defenseless innocence, have been at the mercy of such abuse. (Of course, these bullies, who have likely been abused themselves, need love more than most. But that is a separate issue.)

Young Michael was natural, innocent, exploding with creativity, and in enough possession of his own soul power to radiate his personal essence—making him and his music positively irresistible. Let’s all take a moment and acknowledge that what he expressed in 1970 in his recordings of “ABC” and “The Love You Save” was his true, irrepressible essence—inspiring, enchanting, and downright magical! That was the real Michael. That was before the world of UNTRUTH had at him. This, I believe, is what his spirit and soul are returning to as he sheds the cage of his physical body and the false stories it absorbed over the course of his life on earth.

Michael and Neda (whose name means “voice” in Farsi) are two innocent, pure souls who demonstrated the lies of our world and what we communally deem acceptable. The painful unfolding of Michael’s public life and the tragic, rapid-fire death of Neda in Iran have showed us the EFFECTS of the CAUSES supported by such a world. What happened to Michael and Neda could happen to any innocent, and indeed does—every second of every day. Dramatic displays of suffering and wasted life can sometimes jolt humans out of our programmed, blinkered ways of seeing so that we can begin to discern the truth. But then most of us get distracted again and fall back into our old ways.

To varying degrees, we are all PERCEPTION-GIVERS: those who reflect through personal experience the truths and untruths of our humanity. We must also pay attention and be PERCEPTION-GETTERS. This is the way of the Peaceful Warrior, who does not draw a machine gun or send out a drone against injustice. The Peaceful Warrior knows there is more power in simply holding a mental posture of attentiveness and knows exactly what to watch for. An effective Peaceful Warrior is fluent in the language of Life—able to discern between that which is life-generating and that which is life-deteriorating—and from there is able to make swift life-generating choices.

How perceptive are you? How adept a Peaceful Warrior? How many of the lies, stories, and life-deteriorating but commonly accepted ideas can you see though? What do you do with what you see? Do you passively pray that the world will change or do you change yourself based on what you discover?

Our world can change only if individuals truly perceive and understand the EFFECTS of every CAUSE, and can discern between life and death. How the term “life” is misused! That which is truly living is harmonious and beautiful. Can we stop going around saying “Well, that’s life!” when something undesirable happens? It would be more accurate to say, “Well, that’s death!”

If Michael was taking substances to ease his inner pain and these substances played a role in his passing, this would bear closer examination. Whether it’s pharmaceutical or recreational drugs, alcohol, overeating, or other perverse forms of consumption like excessive shopping and sex addiction, these numbing behaviors indicate a world of PAIN and UNTRUTH. We must acknowledge that the personal and communal pain is real, neither a minor blip on the screen nor an acceptable part of normal life. Perception-getters know that pain is the alarm bell sounding off against the error of life-destroying causes and actions. Furthermore, error begets error, growing exponentially and multiplying human pain.

Instead of trading one numbing behavior for another—say, drinking for smoking, or smoking for overeating, we must determine what is motivating this behavior. The fact is, like Michael, many people don’t want see the truth and go through the shedding process. But for those of us who do, perception can lead to freedom.

To get really personal, for the first time in a long time I was so overcome with emotion today that I just wept. I didn’t resist the urge; I was grateful no one around to say, “Please don’t cry.” It felt so good to shed my tears. The flood of tears came through me like a summer storm after a long, hot day—it drenched my face, neck and T-shirt. I was not lost in the emotion. Rather, I was able to observe it. I was delighted that what I was feeling (and for whatever length of time I had been holding onto it) was finding a release—an exit from my body.

As I cried, all I could think of were the lies and the suffering those lies were causing. I wept for the beautiful boy, Michael, whose experience is a mirror for humanity. I wept in joy for all of our journeys, for despite how daunting it can be to truly perceive, it is a gift. It enables us to shed our old skins of untruth and renew ourselves. I wept for the gorgeous, young Neda and thanked her for her sacrifice, which has opened our eyes in invaluable ways.

One of my favorite songs is “The Nightshift” by the Commodores. It reminds me of my dad making music-magic in the studios on the nightshift—when most of the biggest R&B hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s were recorded. The Commodores recorded this song as a tribute to two of their friends who both passed in 1984: one was the legendary perception-giver, Marvin Gaye; and the other, the great Jackie Wilson.

I’ve posted the lyrics below as a tribute to Michael’s legacy and the mirror he offered mankind. I suppose this gives new meaning to his 1988 hit, “Man in the Mirror.” His fifty years on this planet were not easy for him. This is for you, Michael, may your pain not be in vain, and may your harmonies bring about greater harmony here on earth.

The “Nightshift” by The Commodores

Marvin, he was a friend of mine
And he could sing a song
His heart in every line.
Marvin sang of the joy and pain
He opened up our minds
And I still can hear him say:
Talk to me
So you can see
What’s goin’ on.
Say you will sing your songs
Forever more
ever more
ever more.
Gonna be some sweet sounds comin’ down on the nightshift
I bet you’re singin’ proud
Oh, I bet you pull a crowd.
Gonna be a long night
It’s gonna be all right on the nightshift.
You found another home
I know you’re not alone on the nightshift.
You found another home
I know you’re not alone on the nightshift.
Jackie, hey what you’re doin’ now? It seems like yesterday
When we were workin’ out.
Jackie, you set the world on fire
You came and gifted us
Your love, it lifted us higher and higher.
Keep it up and we’ll be there at your side.

Celebrate Your Powers of Free Will This Independence Day

But if we are to be told by a foreign Power…what we shall do, and what we shall not do, we have Independence yet to seek, and have contended hitherto for very little.

—George Washington, from a letter to Alexander Hamilton, May 8, 1796

Isn’t Independence Day wonderful? It’s a celebration not only of our freedom from monarchal rule, but also of our free will. Free will is the most precious of our inalienable rights and, despite all the finger-pointing from other countries (and from ourselves), we are free to pursue our own path to happiness in this country.

Here’s the caveat: free will is absolutely useless if you don’t know what your options are. How are you supposed to pursue happiness if you don’t know what happiness even is? How can you cultivate a healthy, radiant body if you don’t know what “healthy” even means? You will not find many good examples in the media or among your peers.

Independence is the opposite of following the herd or letting others dictate your actions. For example, if you are addicted to substances that keep you reaching for the coffee, drugs, flour, sugar, and other unfit food items, you are as independent as a marionette. Independence requires snipping away the puppet strings of addiction and fruitless social expectations so that you can exercise free will. Free will requires access to yourwhole self.

If years ago I hadn’t decided to ignore all the voices of conformity and reach for full independence based on the highest good that I knew at each turn, I would have rapidly degenerated into a sick, heavy, depressed mother of two most unfortunate kids! Instead, I’ve launched myself up the spiral of cleansing and rejuvenation, taking me well beyond my former limitations—and I invite you to join me.

To help you on your own journey of independence, my colleague and good friend, Gil Jacobs (contact Organic Avenue at 212-334-4593 for information about his future lectures) and I put our heads together to bring to light the most advanced knowledge available on health and human evolution. We’ve outlined for you 14 basic premises that will answer most of your questions when considered within the Major Underlying Context stated below. Remember, each premise must be taken as part of the whole to remain pure. Take time to consider each one to confirm in your soul whether its truth resonates within you. If you feel resistance, that’s okay. I’ve laid out these premises for those of you who are ready for them.

MAJOR UNDERLYING CONTEXT

You are one with the Great Power of Creation (God), but you have followed a plan that has blocked your access to this power. This power is manifested in the mind (God Kingdom) as well as in the body (Temple), which conducts the electromagnetic manifestation of the Life Force current (God Power). No matter what your history is, this power is well within your reach if you remove the blockages to it. Recovering the Life Force current in the body enables you to restore power to the kingdom of God within you. This requires overcoming corrupt old orthodoxies and habits, which will sometimes be enjoyable and at other times greatly daunting. Prepare for both experiences. To regenerate yourself and tap your full power, you must adopt some unorthodox methods. Fear not! This is a matter of stepping out of the imprisoning darkness into the liberating light of advanced knowledge.

PREMISE #1: The cause of all illness is waste matter sticking to and poisoning human tissue. The correction of all illness is the removal of this waste matter. The correct approach to this removal, what we call transitioning, is the key to success.

PREMISE #2: Illness and waste come from the consistent intake of unfit foods and substances, which is everything other than raw fruits and vegetables and their juices.

PREMISE #3: We can make the biggest strides toward healing (returning the body—and from there, the world—to its natural clean state of peace and happiness) through deep tissue cleansing. The poisoning of the human body is the cause of anger, violence, crime, war, and other discordant emotional experiences. When stuck in a polluted body, we are compelled to seek satisfaction outside of ourselves—for example, in power, ownership, money, sex, etc. Cleansing awakens us from the madness of conformity and moves us toward peace, love and acceptance. Polluting the Earth (landfills, deforestation, and the general over-consumption and waste of vital resources) is a direct analogy to the human body. To heal the world, we must begin by healing ourselves.

PREMISE #4: The purpose of tissue cleansing through transition diet and elimination is not merely to perfect our diets, live longer, stay out of doctors’ offices, or look beautiful. Rather, it is finally to bring an end to the emotional, psychological, and spiritual suffering that we have inflicted on ourselves and others for far too long.

PREMISE #5: Corruption of the body through the consumption of unfit substances is carried through our lineage in the physical blueprint of the DNA. Each generation of the human family is born more compromised and prone to physical and mental illness than the preceding one. Hence, our children are getting sicker and heavier. Birth defects, emotional/mental imbalances, and cancers are on the rise. The only cure for childhood illness is to clean up the corruption of our DNA through deep tissue cleansing.

PREMISE #6: Allopathic medicine observes only what the population exhibits. If people are asymptomatic (i.e., not complaining of a particular symptom), they are considered “healthy”—despite latent illness proliferating in their bodies. Most of our culture is asymptomatic by conventional standards, but in reality very few people today are healthy. Research is never done on clean-celled individuals. Even the odd study on vegetarians or vegans does not count; as we have seen, merely omitting animal products from the diet does not ensure health. Drugs are tested and deemed “safe” if they do not appear lethal to an organ or individual over the test period, while their long-term use leads to organ damage and birth defects. Rather than treating illness at its source (the waste matter in the tissues), mainstream medicine merely represses symptoms. This perversion of the concept of healthcare is unacceptable.

PREMISE #7: If your body is significantly corrupted with modern ailments, allopathic medicine will work for you insofar as it will make you more comfortable for the time being. If you are dependent on modern medicine, you cannot expect alternative healing modalities (acupuncture, chiropractics, faith healing, etc.) to offer real solutions. Antibiotics, for example, are necessary for the average polluted body suffering from bronchitis. A body must undergo deep tissue cleansing over a sufficient period of time to be free of its illnesses and dependence on allopathic medicines. It will generally take more than just a few weeks or months of cleansing to remove the depth of poisoning and free the body from this false health paradigm. Most alternative healing methods (such as Chinese and Aruyvedic) are rooted in subtle ancient traditions to heal subtle illnesses—and are not designed for the dramatic modern illnesses that are so common today.

PREMISE #8: Vitamins, minerals and “super-foods” are a waste and a distraction. Indications of malnutrition in blood, hair or urine analysis occurs when food is sticking like glue to the tissues, creating noxious gasses that eat up the minerals and vitamins. Vitamin-pushers work off the premise that imbalances can be corrected by replacing substances that the body is lacking—essentially reducing health to what we put into the body. This backward thinking makes naturopathic healing no better than allopathic medicine, treating the symptom instead of the cause. There is only one cause of nutrient deficiencies in our culture today: the clogging of the body from permeated waste. Where and the extent to which it accumulates determines the nature of the imbalance. When we understand that health is having a clean-celled body that will naturally regenerate itself, we will stop asking “Where do I get my protein, XYZ vitamin, trace minerals, etc.?” An alkalinized, cleansed body never has to worry about the minutiae of nutrients.

PREMISE #9: The great silent addiction is to mainstream foods that are unfit for human consumption. You know you’re an addict when you function better with your poison than without it. Coffee addicts function best when they drink coffee; coke addicts function best when they snort; the average American functions best on a heavy diet of poisonous food. Don’t mistake fake energy for Life Force Energy.

PREMISE #10: Detoxification is a visible physical process, not an ethereal concept. It only occurs when you see the waste matter leave the body. Any “cleansing” product only provides the potential to cleanse. Cleansing does not occur until copious amounts of matter leave the body. Some of these products contain irritants, as found in laxatives (senna, cascara segrada, etc.), which only shake loose some matter and make you think you have cleansed but push matter deeper into the tissues. Others are “awakeners,” which is quite different. The awakeners simply draw up the waste by resting the body from digestion (as in the case of fasting and cleansing diets) or absorb waste (as in the case of psyllium, which absorbs ten times its weight in waste, and bentonite, which is earth/clay that absorbs acid waste). To experience true detoxification, we must awake and release! Bowel cleansing is not only advisable, but imperative.

PREMISE #11: Clinging to a dietary label such as “raw” or “vegan” or “macro” with religious fervor is not healthy. The need to label is a need to define or feel superior—evidence that cleansing is not taking place. Tissue cleansing helps dissolve the ego. Be wary of events organized around so-called health-generating dogma (such as support groups for raw or vegan dieters) or gimmicky foods (such as events for chocolate-lovers). Support groups are for those who are grieving or suffering, not for those who are transitioning and cleansing their cells.

PREMISE #12: Colonic irrigation must be done correctly and in tandem with a cleansing transition diet for it to be of use. One of these elements without the other is largely ineffective. Colonic irrigation that uses pressure rather than natural gravity can push the waste back up the intestines, making matters worse.

PREMISE #13: A transition diet should match your body’s degree of poisoning, not your zeal to cleanse. Just as you learned to crawl before you learned to walk, you must climb up the health ladder at the speed and intensity appropriate for your body. Look for progress, not perfection.

PREMISE # 14: Not everyone is ready to live as we do. We must never be egotistical, dogmatic, judgmental, pushy or superior. Let us take care to respect all views as we move forward. Let us guide ourselves and those who are truly interested. This cleansing work is not for everyone. Not everyone cares or wants to change. It’s okay to be one of few. This is for the few who will, in time, become the many.

This Independence Day, when you look around at all the flags flying and burgers flipping (do I need to point out the irony?), remember what this holiday is really about. Remember what freedom is really about. And when you see all the bright-eyed American kids at you parties, consider that they are watching and learning from you. Will you teach them to follow the herd? Or will you reach for the next rung on the evolutionary spiral of human life and show them that there’s more to freedom than social status and material gain?

Happy Fourth! May you celebrate the highest good of human independence with fireworks in your heart!

Fresh Perspectives on Thanksgiving Dinner

Consider the ancient philosophical concept of the “highest good.” Every moment of every day we must make innumerable choices about what we are going to think, say, or do in every area of our lives. Our lives are streams of moments of chosen experience. Each time we make a choice based on our “highest good” rather than “right” or “wrong” or what is considered socially acceptable, we take a giant leap forward! Sometimes, however, making the highest choice is not easy.

Take the Thanksgiving meal. If you are like me—committed to eating cleanly prepared, light-filled foods—you will probably pass on many of the holiday dishes. (Some leniency may serve your highest good, but that is for you to determine.) Whether you have just begun to practice simple food combinations or you choose to eat salad instead of the traditional feast, you will probably wind up ruffling some feathers at the dinner table.

Whether it’s your grandmother who is insulted that you are not eating her famous stuffing, a friend who is adamant that you are not getting enough protein, or a sister who preferred when you were fat because it made her feel more powerful, you will have your own unique dramas to overcome. I’ve been there many times, as have my clients and readers.

Now, some of you may be tempted to eat like everyone else at the table on Thanksgiving, simply to avoid conflict. You would rather suffer a setback, feel a bit ill, and compromise on what you hold true to make everyone else comfortable. Don’t try to convince yourself that such a choice is selfless and good. To the contrary, it is a case of failing to honor life—yours, your community’s, and the laws of nature. The choice of conformity slows the growth of mankind.

Holiday meals can actually be a superb opportunity for personal growth, if you approach them with confidence and self-sovereignty.

Let’s say that on this Thanksgiving you do choose for your highest good: you eat what looks cleanly prepared and easy to digest, make yourself a plate of greens to go with it, and stop eating when you’re satiated. Now, it’s unlikely that anyone will be bothered by this, but if there is pushback from the crowd, you will find yourself in a position to clearly state your boundaries and interests. Take this opportunity to stand your ground and speak up for what is life-generating in the human body—in a gentle, compassionate, but firm way.

Your defense may well scare your detractors to the core, because it will call into doubt their own choices, but they will benefit nonetheless. When you speak up for your highest good, you shine a bright light into the darkness, and darkness does not like to be disturbed. Do not take any unpleasant reactions as a personal attack. The best way to establish your boundaries is to allow the skeptics the space to be rattled as you proceed calmly with your choice.

Your agenda is not to convert anyone, but to live as you like without conflict, to feel safe choosing the highest good rather than following “the tribe.” When you live your truth, some people around you will be deeply attracted to it while others will find it highly annoying. So what are you going to do, goose-step around everyone based on how they are likely to receive you? There is a word for always trying to please others: bondage. If you stay true to your highest good, you will realize you are free, even in the face of peer pressure. Now that’s called liberation!

In the same way that we should not attempt to convert others (everyone awakens in their own time), we should not bend our truth to make others comfortable. Once you have established your space confidently and lovingly, people will be drawn to your wisdom and yearn to understand why you have chosen to live and eat in more light-filled ways. This is how your own highest good can gradually serve the highest good of society, which is where things really get exciting!

Most people are feeling very trapped in the old ways of doing things. Traditional holiday foods and gatherings could use a good dose of light—and if you don’t bring it, who will? Go out there and be courageous. Who knows, you might just help lift your fellow man out of despair and usher in a whole new holiday of thanks!

Thoughts on America, Freedom, and the Human Body

If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife,
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
’Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
’Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land…God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to L.A.,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:

I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
’Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land… God bless the U.S.A.

–God Bless the U.S.A., words and music by Lee Greenwood

I have loved this song since I was a little girl and Lee Greenwood himself performed it at an L.A. Dodgers doubleheader game I went to with my dad. I have such mixed emotions when I hear it now. I want to feel proud to be an American yet, like many of you, I cannot possibly be proud of the brute forces of greed and power that have driven our nation into wars, recession, and widespread illness. Now is the time to reassess our values and reclaim our voice for truth, beauty, and humanity.

This song got me thinking about freedom—the freedom that was intended to be the foundation of this country versus the way we perceive freedom today. I come from a long line of proud Americans dating back to the Revolutionary War. I am a lifelong member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a Magna Charta Dame, and (so I’m told) a 17th Century Colonial Dame. My American ancestry runs deep.

What I love most about the American spirit is the childlike enthusiasm that we Americans have—the sense that everything is possible, that there is every reason to reach for the stars. What disturbs me most about America is that this bright spirit has been dimmed by greed and power-lust—values that serve the opposite of freedom: fear, limitation, and death. Today we have only an illusion of freedom.

Here is what true freedom means to me:

1) True freedom is the ability to make choices for our highest good.
2) Such freedom can only come from knowing one’s highest potential.
3) In both mind and body, we must transcend our social programming and clear away waste in order to see our true potential and thus exercise free choice.

When we make choices based on habit or social norms, when we construct our lives based on what others have done before or what appears safe, we are acting in fear, not exercising free will. How many people rise above their social programming long enough to make choices for their highest good? How often have you wanted to make such choices for yourself but felt compelled to follow the conventional path of least resistance?

If your body is polluted and blocked up with decades of accumulated waste matter baked into your cells, how can you consider yourself free? When you cleanse your body of the toxins suffocating your cells, you are giving yourself full permission to tear up every blueprint and program that has been drilled into you by conventional authorities so you can finally see yourself with clarity.

When you are free of the puppet strings of a limited world, you become a pioneer of freedom. The cleaner the cells and your very DNA become, the more you can trust your choices and follow the path of life and humanity. I am a free American in a country with a lot of Americans who are not free. As a fellow human first and a fellow patriot second, I extend my hand to you, so that we may all fulfill our potential as beautiful, free-thinking people of this earth.

In light of all that consciousness can be,
