When it Rays, It Shines

Dearest Friends,

Have you noticed the remarkable shifts in people around you and the extraordinary amount of knowledge that is blossoming in our culture right now?

I am seeing increased evidence daily of a rapidly awakening world. People from all walks of life are beginning to rub their eyes from their long, hypnotic slumber and become aware of the forces that have been holding them in various states of limitation.

The gateway now stands open wide for anyone who wants to walk into the light of truth to do so. The many obstructions that have kept our culture in the dark for so long are dissolving. The light is penetrating the shadows, revealing the questionable motives behind every life-deteriorating institution as well as the gaping holes in many misguided dogmas and worldviews, making transparent what was previously obscured.

All you need to do is look around to see that the world of darkness is losing its grip on our individual and collective consciousness. Nothing is truly hidden from view for those who want to see. We are awakening to the realization that we are fully equipped to govern the course of our own lives because we are innately peaceful, loving, wise, and powerful beings (not savage and aimless), even in a world still rife with misinformation and greed.

Through our thoughts and actions, we are learn firsthand that we are fully equipped to self-heal and develop powerfully energetic bodies in a world where dangerous nutritional and medical protocols have long reigned. We no longer accept what the old protocols would have us believe–that we are weak and predisposed to degeneration and disease. We are learning how to shed the ideologies and norms that deplete our physical, mental, and spiritual energies and step boldly into lives of beauty and creativity.

It has never been easier to walk away from social values that do not serve our highest good. With every choice we make as consumers and social beings–whether in terms of food, clothing, media, beliefs, habits, relationships, religions, careers, politics, etc.–we can choose to step more fully into the light. I’ll say it again, the gateway now stands open wide!

I want to celebrate this amazing moment of our awakening because, as we move deeper into this self-cleansing work, it can become all too easy to focus what’s wrong with the world. It can be daunting to awaken to all the cultural, social, and environmental threats to our well-being. Constant vigilance is necessary, yes, but is important that we are most deeply motivated by all that is true and beautiful in the world, or has the potential to be, rather than by fear and disdain for of all that is wrong with it.

We are creating a new world, no question about it. Sure, there will always be dark forces, just as there will always be some bad bacteria in the gut. But those forces are getting weaker and weaker by the day. There may still be countless threats to our planet, our health, and our humanity–but, to cotinue with the analogy, rogue bacteria do not disappear overnight when the system initiates healing; rather, they begin to weaken as the life force reclaims residence and gathers strength. We are on a journey of continual healing and awakening here. This work is about positive growth, not perfection.

We can all feel strong and anchored in the light as we move forward and embrace a life of joy and connection. You may feel a stinging disappointment when you tune into the mainstream media or go into mainstream megastore, but the mainstream is changing. Think about what the term “mainstream” means. As more and more of our brothers and sisters awaken to the truths about nature, human health, and evolution, a new mainstream will emerge–one that flows strongly and swiftly with life force.

This is a great moment in human history to be alive. Ours is an era of transformation and responsibility. We are on track to a better future, my friends, so let us rejoice!

As I approach my due date this week, I also want to take a moment to express the gratitude I’ve felt for the last nine months for the generous, loving support of our community of friends. You’ve all been so wonderful to me!

I was sorry to miss catching up with the culinary students last weekend. I almost headed out to New Jersey on several occasions but the thought of the Holland Tunnel and all the bouncing around in a car was a bit much at this stage. I knew you were in great hands with Doris, Ana, and Joanna. And from what I’ve heard, you all had such a great bonding experience with one another as well.

This pregnancy has been a great journey, and even though I’ve been pregnant and given birth twice before, this one is totally unique. I hope to share more about it in the coming months, once I’ve welcomed the new little Rose-bud into the world.

It may be quiet at NRI for a few months as we integrate the new baby into our family, but please know that NRI is ever at the ready to support you. Here are some essential contacts:

More on Transfiguration

I know many of you are hungry for more insights on transfiguration. Before I begin this next installment on the subject, I would like to invite you to take a moment to still your minds from the mental chatter and to soften the old common belief systems. Open as much as you can to the idea that humanity was born out of a powerful union with the Source of all life – like a son or daughter carrying all the attributes and qualities of the parents’ DNA. Consider that we’ve been on a long journey away from that truth, and consider the effects that this distance may have had on us. Once you feel you have grasped the wonder of that perspective and open mental state, I invite you to read on…

There is light all around us and inside every atom of our being – such exquisite, pulsating, living light that is the very essence of health, beauty, and joy. Even though this world of light is rarely seen or understood, and largely untapped, it’s very much still there, living with us. It’s as bright and undiminished as ever. We just don’t incorporate it in our human realm because it is not a part of our cultural paradigm.

Why not? Where did it go? Somewhere along the line we cut ourselves off from the great Source, possibly when we traded indigenous life for so-called civilized life. Along the trajectory away from the Source, we developed new paradigms that blocked us off so much that, with the exception of a very small group of spiritual warriors, this connection is buried in our unconscious minds.

Modern civilization cut off every strand of possible interconnectivity with the Source. Moving away from the Source has exponentially reduced the light and power we could receive from it, thereby darkening our perception, limiting our abilities, and weakening our physical and mental faculties in general.

Uniting with our Source Energy, I believe, is our ideal state of being. Not only does it ensure we move with the interconnected network of life so essential to our joy, well-being, and progress as a species, but it also ensures we are made up of all the qualities of that Source – that we are made in its image. Humanity, I believe, was designed to be a microcosmic manifestation of the macrocosmic Source. In that ideal state, we have everything we could ever conceivably want or need. In that state we share Cosmic Intelligence (much as our individual computers tap into the global Internet), enriching us with all its energy as it flows through us. If this sounds implausible, that’s because we have been cut off from it for far too long!

Over the course of separating from the living light, our whole world has mutated to reflect our crippled consciousness. You can imagine it this way: If you get less and less oxygen, your body will start to degenerate and you will look and act like a dying person. Our world is looking and acting like a dying world. Human life has also become denatured, reflecting our denatured consciousness and environment. To put it in Western theological terms, we could call this our “fall from glory,” and we could understand “original sin” as our separation from the living-light Source.

Consciousness diminished has led to dangerous belief systems, which has led to dangerous choices. This is how a trajectory that veers even a few degrees off course can become perilously difficult to retrieve, like trying to lasso a bird in a tornado. Physically, over time, this has translated into reduced abilities, lack of mental clarity, dysfunctional choices, atrophied physiology, deteriorated blood chemistry, reduced organ power, and loss of essential life-generating connection. Socially, it has translated into corruption, motivated by greed and power, which seek to serve the self, not unity. We are like fruits cut from the vine.

Or, to put it another way, like fish out of water we can only wriggle in desperation for so long before perishing. Instead of thrashing around blindly and perishing, I suggest turning back to the Source. The moment we enter unity-consciousness, we reconnect with the living network of life force energy and rapidly transfigure ourselves on every level. We transfigure our beings into the living-light matrix and prepare for the next evolutionary leap. We were not intended to stagnate or degrade but to keep evolving, synergistically developing all our abilities, sensitivities, strengths, and dreams.

The most fundamental Cosmic Law is that Nature must be free to flow and express itself. Anything that opposes Nature is doomed. It is our nature to be one with the Source Energy. Transfiguration is not about escaping the physical world, as many new-age texts suggest. Rather, it is about recognizing that the physical and the spiritual realms are one, that we are physical-spiritual beings. All matter is alive with energy and spirit, something to be honored and integrated into our whole experince. Our physical bodies are fluid living light.

We have explored how obstruction in the body is the cause of all physiological disease. Illnesses and their symptoms are indications of a profoundly misguided trajectory of thought and behavior. We find that all pain and dissonance can be traced back to the obstruction of natural flow and expression. In modern society, we have gone even further than obstructing Nature; we have utterly cut ourselves off from it.

When we block off our connection to the macrocosmic Source, we, its microcosmic offspring, becomes blocked in every conceivable way. So, we go about developing societies and institutions from that dangerous persepective. We develop substances that block our cells that we call nourishment. We produce TV shows, movies, music, books and magazines that reflect our obstructed mindset and call that entertainment. We cram kids with decontextualized facts and call that education. We spend our days consuming products that harm us and then work endless hours to pay off the debts they cost and call that life.

Every single pathway of our prodigiously complex human system reflects the obstruction. It must, because that’s the Cosmic Law of twin macro- and microcosmic expression. And so the walls above have created walls below; walls without have created walls within. Now we are all walled up, with little comprehension of our pain and anger. We do not comprehend our illnesses, our infertility, our depression, our rage, our addictions, or our longings. Walled up as we are, it’s nearly impossible to see that it is the walls themselves that are the problem. The walls must come down, be dissolved. We must see that they are the origin of our suffering.

Before I educated myself and began to practice the art of transfiguration, I experienced all the pain common to our way of life, including severe childhood trauma, the loss of a parent at a young age, all manner of abuse, heart break, addiction, envy, greed, confusion, fear, self-loathing, body hatred, and countless other programs and conditionings. I was the poster child of the modern world, and every bit as miserable, suicidal, disempowered, and insecure.

There came a point in my life, in my early 20s, when I’d had enough. I knew there had to be another way to live. I set my full focus on it because I knew my life depended on it. I want to share my journey with you because I believe I am just like everyone else. There’s nothing special about me that is not special about you. I have no unique powers that you don’t have. The only thing that is different between someone who dissolves the walls and someone who doesn’t is the degree of focused intent. You have to want it badly enough to stick with it through the massive learning curve, to keep your eyes fixed on the light even when it’s barely visible. Let the law of obstruction be your guiding light, and it will gradually dissolve away the walls of your life.

To practice the art of transfiguration:
1) realize that change is needed;
2) understand that the worldview we were raised to adopt is the cause of our suffering;
3) understand that we are children of the Source, and to journey back to it, we must plug ourselves into its network of energy with every choice we make.
4) apply a paradigm of thought and behavior that is fully sympathetic with the network of energy (aka unity consciousness and the actions that flow from it);
5) promote molecular and energetic revisions to the whole being until transfigured into an integrated body of living-light energy.

The two most popular transfiguration legends are (a) the alchemical change from lead to gold and (b) the transfiguration of the resurrected Christ. Transfiguration can occur in large and small ways, and within all kinds of living substances, bodies, and beings.

Transfiguration is the final result of a three-tiered alchemical process, by which one form is elevated to another: 1 – Transformation; 2 – Transmutation; 3 – Transfiguration.

Though the three terms sound similar, they are different. Transformation indicates the changing of the physical form. It has to do with the lower material forms and the lower natures. Transmutation has to do with an inner change – a change of the substances within, the properties that a being is made of. Transfiguration is the energetic changing of form associated with changing material formation.

The leap is there for us to take, whenever we are ready to reconnect with life. I will write more when I feel better able to illuminate the journey to the Source. In the meantime, I recommend spending time considering what it means to be plugged into the network of living energy. Who are you when you do this? What do you do? What don’t you do? How do your thought patterns change? What does unity consciousness afford you? What fears does it dissolve? How does it heal relationships? How does it ground you and make you more at peace in your body?

Try to release yourself from your belief system for just 5 or 10 minutes each day and envision yourself as a child of the Source, with all its shining qualities, united with the network of living energy. Try it on for just a few minutes, if that’s all you have time for, and see if it doesn’t inspire you to come back for more!

Natalia

Inner Nectar

Hi Everyone,

I haven’t been blogging for a while because I’ve been integrating another stage of increased perception. With each leap I’ve taken in consciousness, I’ve had to retreat. As a wife and mother of two school-aged children, that does not mean disappearing into a cave but rather only doing what is necessary to maintain a balanced, well-operating, loving home.

Raising your consciousness and integrating new levels of seeing, feeling, and being requires space, attention, and much rest. If you do not claim these for yourself, in order to facilitate this period of personal growth, your leap will be inharmonious and may actually become a liability–a curse, rather than a blessing.

People around you will not always understand what is occurring, and when you disappear from communication and social interactions, they can sometimes take offense. I’ve learned from experience that this is often a time when some relationships show their true stripes and fall by the wayside and others reveal a strength and understanding that lead to greater intimacy and depth. I’ve learned not to be too attached to either outcome and just to be grateful for the chips falling where they will, remaining in a state of non-judgment.

I have wanted to write about my experiences before now, but I haven’t been sure if it was time, as the leaps are still taking me into newer and newer territory. But then it occurred to me that perhaps it would still be worthwhile to share the steps along the way.

What I will share here with you here, very humbly, is simply my own personal experience and nothing more. It’s what has occurred as a result of a practice I call “keeping my eye single to the Light.” I have managed to clear this statement of any religious orthodoxy or connotation. For me, it simply means that I strip away all illusions of our world as projected inside our minds, hearts, and cells–as well as outside of us, in the world we perceive–and focus only on the source of all life: the Light.

I held this focus for brief moments at first, then for hours, then for days, weeks, and so on–until I saw my whole life through this lens. Not only did it bring me a sweet nectar of peace, which filled my heart and coursed through my bloodstream with pulsating living energy, but it also caused even the most stubborn programs, fears, and illusions to dissolve.

The process enabled my heart to open to Love like never before. It also transformed my physical energy as I reconnected with Mother Nature, awakening the cord between my heart and my physical being and the heart of the Earth. This opened a powerful portal, allowing life to flow between us. It created a new synergy that greatly enhanced my ability to access and comprehend universal and cosmic knowledge. This knowledge came–and still comes–in flashes and epiphanies, like puzzle pieces linking together all at once.

This state of being is the only state of being I desire now, and I have learned to keep vigilantly away from anything that would decrease it or separate me from it. I have been working on the fine art of participating in the world without being sucked into its anti-energetic influences.

I care for my family, enjoy wonderful friendships, am physically active, and continue to work on projects that I deem valuable contributions to society, all while maintaining the sweet flow of this inner nectar. This requires vigilance above all. I craft my life around the internal and external activities that support this connection, and then, as external things come up, as they inevitably do, I hold them up to what I now know to be true to my heart and work with them accordingly.

Keeping my eye single to the Light has brought me peace in a world of madness. It has helped me see the life-deteriorating stories, labels, programs, and conditions of our world so much more clearly, so I am more fully aware of them, so they cannot sneak up on me, hook me, or carry a charge for me. I believe this makes me much better equipped to raise my children and to communicate effectively with others.

True spirituality–which, for me, means connection with cosmic consciousness–is simple. But, like true health, true spirituality faces much obstruction and interference in the modern world. Our ability to reconnect to our Source is only equal to the extent to which we can dissolve and release our spiritual blocks. We must be ready and willing to move toward lightness (physically and spiritually) and walk away from the things that do not serve our greatest good, however hard it may initially be.

The approach is the same as the physical cleansing approach: awaken (acknowledge/see the obstruction) and release (recognize how it disempowers you on all levels and gently let it go). Then, remember: we do not detox to retox. This is where vigilance comes in: keep your peaceful warrior at the gate, interviewing anything that should desire entrance into your consciousness, knowing what is welcome and what is not.

Each time you undertake a new integration like this, you will receive a huge amount of energy. That is consciousness returning to you. Increased consciousness = increased energy. Decreased consciousness = decreased energy. However, before that increased consciousness is fully anchored and integrated into your being, the shift can make you feel very sleepy and mentally overwhelmed. It’s really important to sleep when this happens. Catnaps are wonderful and are sometimes needed, even in addition to a solid 8 to 10 hours of sleep at night. You’ll dream more deeply than usual and have very meaningful dreams that are worth contemplating and reflecting upon.

It is important to make time just to be with yourself. I like to sit in the lotus position or lie down with my right palm on my heart and my left on my belly and just feel the Love growing in my heart. My hand on my belly keeps me grounded and aware of the importance of the body’s powerful connection to the mineral energies of the Earth and to all the physical laws.

I have a tendency to move into the upper chakras, so I continuously reinforce the value, beauty, and power of the natural, physical world and of Gaia to help balance this aspect of my nature. We all have our spiritual inclinations. In my case, I suspect I gravitate toward the mental energies because I felt burdened by the body early in life. I subconsciously tended to look for ways to leave or reject it, so I tended to value the mental energies and focused on the higher tones. Recognizing and integrating the Earth tones and the physical expressions of Light were key to opening my heart, and also to bringing the living energies into my body to support my physical experience. I noticed a distinct improvement in my physical power, posture, skin tone, musculature, agility, and general youthfulness once I fully reconnected with the Earth’s power.

If you are interested, I will share more about this with you as I progress. It is the most exciting experience I have had so far on this journey. And that is saying a lot, because the whole process has been one of magical discovery, liberation, inspiration, and blessed knowledge. I am so full of Love, Praise and Gratitude. My cup runneth over! And it’s all a result of staying true to the place from which Life, Light and Love flow.

Summer of Power!

Summer is here and it truly is the season of power. The sun is the great generator. For the next three months, solar energy is at its peak in this part of the world, which means that we have access to more energy now than at any other time of the year. It means that we can greatly benefit from this power if only we know how to connect with it. In summer, we can get charged up by this solar power and feel deeply infused with energy.

If you open yourself up to this solar power, you’ll feel it in your blood stream, in your muscle tissue and bones, in your womb if you’re a woman (this is a great time to boost fertility), in the creative centers of your mind and body, and last but not least, in your heart. Summer is not the time to melt and become lethargic, but a time of great opportunity for every living being.

There is nothing like the electric feeling of waking up to the summer sun in a clean body, with electromagnetic life force, chi, solar fire running though your blood, with your heart beating strong and your mind brimming with creative thoughts, propelled with a desire to capitalize on this power. This feeling is among the greatest gifts life has to offer. So let me give you a few tips to get you there.

In order to receive this solar energy, you need to be clean internally and externally, and connected to the earth and to nature at large. While it helps to live in the country, you can tap into nature’s energy almost anywhere. As I write this, I am fully linked up with enormous solar energy right here in the middle of New York City. The flow is intense, not because I’m tanning to a crisp in the noonday sun, but because I’ve consciously opened myself up to great web of energy all around me.

Unity consciousness—the perspective that life is an interconnected whole, ever pulsating with life-generating energy—keeps me connected. Separation consciousness, the typical perspective in our culture, keeps most people disconnected from the web of life and thus choked off from all the power it carries. Most people believe they get their energy from calories alone (usually unnatural substances completely devoid of life force) and seek security merely in following the social norms—such as maintaining steady jobs, signing up for health insurance plans, accumulating credit, investing capital, and so on.

The problem is that these things can be stripped away at any moment. Banks can close, jobs come and go, health insurance plans offer no insurance of health, emergencies strike, governments fail—the list of social insecurities is endless. But rooting your energy, your power, your raison d’être in nature’s great web of life is the best investment decision you could ever make. If your job, your health insurance, your stocks, and good credit were stripped away, if society were crumbling around you, you would still have your breath, your energy, your health, your passion, your inspiration.

This is not to suggest that we should ignore the workings of society and reject the world. You can certainly hold down a job (hopefully, one that you are passionate about), live in a beautifully appointed home, pay taxes, and so on. The difference is where you get your energy, where your consciousness is. Real energy and power do not unravel based on day-to-day events, news cycles, and financial markets—all the whims and vicissitudes of the social order. Real power, the energy that propels the life cycle at large, is never-ending, continually fortifying, evergreen.

We human beings are part of a great network designed to receive the electromagnetic power of the sun. That power is the life force that flows in such abundance through every atom in the natural world, in every unseen wave particle that charges the air. It is in the sun’s rays and in the earth’s electromagnetic field. The energetic field is all around us, but in this culture of separation consciousness we all too often cut ourselves off from it.

We are made up of layers of energy and energetic pathways, from our very subatomic structures—the electrons that carry the electromagnetic energy from one atom to another, from cell to cell—through our neurological pathways, bloodstreams, lymph systems, brain waves, muscles, organs, reproductive systems, spinal fluids, skeletal systems, and the unseen nadis and meridians of our energy body.

Our culture is all about separation, wielding one power over another, taking power at the expense of another. Our culture is hierarchical; we understand life only mechanistically, in parts, not holistically. Thousands of years of separation consciousness have cemented this disconnect in the minds of its citizens. Separation consciousness manifests in every single thought and practice in modern society. No wonder so many tramp off to work each day, only to come home deeply exhausted, laden with waste and disappointment. We are seeking energy and life in all the wrong places, in all the wrong ways, when there is more than enough healing, invigorating, creative energy to go around!

To perceive the great web of life, to connect with its energy, takes an enormous leap in consciousness. To step into it requires the heart and passion of a hero. You are invited every single moment of your life to link up with this great force. A powerful, pulsating sea of energy is always ready to fill your pathways and revitalize every cell of your being. Think of summer as the season of high vitality. Unblock yourself, open up your pathways, step into the light, fuel your creativity and all that is closest to your heart.

Here’s to your Summer of Power!

Tempering Passion with Joy

For those of us who see through the illusions and injustices of the world, it is easy to get riled up over them. Speaking for myself, if left unchecked, my passion for truth can quickly turn into aggression. But aggression is aggression, whether it’s coming from egotistical oppressors or impassioned activists, whether its intention is to overpower or to reveal truth.
Passion is a key emotion that can lead to great positive change, but in the hands of those who do not understand its inherent trappings, it can lead to tragedy.

Here’s what truth-seekers and change-makers need to know about the passion for reform: We can only make life-generating contributions by maintaining healthy, life-generating passion, not falling into the trap of aggression. This is not an easy task because passion is inherently active, boisterous, lively, expressive—all excitable qualities that resist being governed.

But to get carried away by our passions is to let them own us instead of using them as tools to reach our goals. In my case, my deepest desire has been to recognize the illusions that stand between me and a life-generating experience—personally, communally, and globally—and then to apply these insights to create life-generating results.

Aggression and depression are two common traps of passion. They are the negative polarities to which the pendulum of passion can swing when left unchecked. When passion turns into aggression or depression, it becomes dangerous and gains momentum toward life-deteriorating results. In this way, even the best intentions can turn ugly.

The best life-generating results come from clarity. Passion can be clear or cloudy, depending on how we exercise it. When we let passion veer off toward aggression or depression, we lose our place and spin away from our goal. And like any trap, this one is not always obvious.

The trap of misdirected passion is rage on the one hand and impotence to effect change on the other. It is understandable that we sometimes fall into the trap of feeling inconsolable, depressed, or furious at the state of the world and the powers that be. But if we do slip into such traps, we must not dwell there for long, lest they render us impotent.

Nobody wins—neither you nor I, nor our evolution—by getting stuck in clouded, negative passion. Furthermore, there’s just no time for it. We, our communities, and our planet are already terribly sick, and getting more so by the minute.

So how do we open our eyes and the eyes of others to the realities of our world, and how do we watch the slow motion of the wheels of justice without becoming impatient and aggressive—or so furious as to become apoplectic, or so depressed as to become suicidal? I have spent a lot of time chewing on this question because it has been part of my personal journey.

If our passion for truth can swing toward the extreme of blind aggression and anger (e.g., hatred, shouting, fighting, violence, dogma, etc.) and toward the related extreme of depression (apathy, impotence, surrender, self-numbing, substance abuse, addiction, suicide, etc.), we must ask ourselves, “What will bring the passion back to a healthy range?”

The answer is joy. According to the great modern mystic, Almine, joy is “the desire to live.” Almine also coined the concept that joy is the emotional mate to passion. That is to say that passion, like any emotion that falls out of balance, must be “checked” by its partner emotion, joy, in order to remain in the sweet spot. Joy can bring us back to equilibrated, life-generating passion.

For example, when I catch myself leaning toward imbalanced states of passion, I immediately remind myself what all this work is about—I envision a world that works for humans and for all life. I hold close the vision of a world that embodies joy, like Anastasia’s, like life-generating native communities that work in inter-dependant harmony. I focus on what makes our inner and outer worlds brim with natural life. The desire to live guides me back to a passionate approach that serves my purpose rather than diluting it.

This approach lifts me out of aggression and into that sweet place where passion and joy pulse together. It brings my warrior out of imbalanced fight mode and into productive protection of all that is good, magical, beautiful, and harmonious.

To give you a visual illustration, think of desire as the key that turns on the ignition, passion as the accelerator, and joy as the wheel. Passion gives us the energy to create that which we desire to manifest. The desire is the reason we choose to pursue a vision. Joy keeps us on the life-generating road.

Notice there is nothing remotely passive about pulling passion out of aggression. Passion in its equilibrated state is actually more powerful and effective than aggression. It actively works to build a new reality, rather than strengthening its opposition with knee-jerk resistance and ineffective battles that only spill vital energy and fan hatred.

Remember, we always run the risk of strengthening that which we oppose. Instead of fighting against big business and insane cultural paradigms with just another brand of brute force and insanity, we should use our energy creatively. We can do more good by healing those aspects of ourselves that reflect the destructiveness of the world. In reforming ourselves, we can liberate ourselves, and thus empower ourselves to help others heal as well.

We must lead by example. By creating alternative ways of life that actually work, we can create a whole new template for others to try when they, too, are worn thin by the old ways.

So many people talk the talk. They want you to know they eat a raw diet and practice consciousness, and so on and so forth. They desperately want to be seen in this light because they do not yet own it. They want to be whole but they are not yet whole, so they fly in a holding pattern around the life they want, never quite landing on it because growing and changing are so hard to do. This kind of change requires a leap over a chasm, which requires an enormous amount of energy.

The energy must come to the individual in the form of desire, passion, and will. Typically, this potent blend of desire, passion, and will comes to a person only after hitting the intolerable lows of a life that doesn’t work. Sometimes people unconsciously create horrible events in their lives in order to effect change for the better. More often, though, people get stuck in life-deteriorating patterns because their will is inactive.

We all have those aspects of ourselves that stand in the way of personal growth that we tend to shove under the bed rather than face. But this is the first obstacle to change, on any scale. We have to address the need for change within ourselves, not just point fingers at the world. For everything we want the world to overcome, we should overcome something within ourselves.

We have to lead life-generating lives and practice—day by day, moment by moment—what we feel is true, not just talk about it, not just keep on wrestling the same old demons. At a certain point, it’s time to move beyond them, beyond indulgent self-reflection, and take action.

What must you change in your personal life? What dragons must you slay for you to be able to live your truth? Identify the steps you must take, and take them. Don’t be afraid of making a mistake, for there is no greater mistake than inaction in the face of suffering. This is the only way to find your equilibrium and create a way of life that sustains that equilibrium. Be vigilant moment to moment, so you don’t fall into those old traps that would corrupt your passion and leach your joy. If you do get pulled one way or the other, toward aggression or depression, work to reclaim your sweet spot as soon as you can. Keep practicing until you can hold that space longer and longer—until it comes naturally to you.

I know this is a major task. But this is your chance to have a real life, to be free of your demons and dragons (call them what you will), to live and to lead by example. Everyone wants to be free of the old traps, but who is going to show them that it’s possible if not you? If you merely wallow in your issues for too long, you will miss this amazing opportunity to live, truly live, in all the wonder and beauty of the human form. This is your chance to bust out of your cage, to lead a life of exhilarating growth and ever-greater levels of freedom.

People usually enter this work wanting to change their bodies and improve their health. What I hope most people come to realize is that correcting misguided eating patterns is just one obvious part of becoming whole again. It is an essential step to regaining our clarity and equilibrium—breaking free of the cages that hold us, the illusions that paralyze us with fear, the clouds that loom overhead and dictate our future—not just to look good and stay out of the doctor’s office. We do this work to increase our joy, to embrace life and to give life with every fiber of our beings.

So when I find my inner warrior falling out of balance and lashing out in rage against authority figures, I remember that this is my passion succumbing to imbalanced aggression. I remember the vision of life that I am working for and hold that vision until I am clear about my real mission. Then, if that assertive part of myself still wants to express itself, I can allow it to do so from a place of awareness. I give it some room and watch it act out its part, and then I put it neatly away, like an actor might remove his or her costume and makeup after a performance. This way, I can maintain balance even while letting my inner warrior express itself. Of course, I am not always so perfectly aware, but the more I witness myself in this manner, the more I am able to remain centered and empowered with clarity of purpose.

My personal quest has always been one of equilibrium (it also happens that I am a Libra, the symbol of the scales, or balance). Finding equilibrium is like finding the Holy Grail—or the alchemical recipe for transforming our lower (base) self into our higher (rarified) self. It is an experience that comes with great clarity.

People tend to equate equilibrium and balance with moderation. I think this is a mistake. The common saying, “Take everything in moderation,” is a pet peeve of mine. When I hear it, I always chime back, “Especially moderation!” Moderation and balance have become intertwined concepts, defined by our culture as having a little bit of everything. The problem is, if you have a little bit of everything in our culture, you’ll be sick and very mentally and emotionally imbalanced.

The Buddhist tradition speaks of the middle way, but this is not moderation as our culture knows it. The Buddhist middle way is the place where the body and mind are extremely clear, only after being purified by asceticism. It is the middle way because it is the place where life can flow, where the stream is fresh in the center of the flowing river. It is the place where you are so abundantly filled with life force and inner peace that you are not lured into states of extreme happiness or sadness by outside events. Rather, you are whole because your inner life is whole. You are aware of what is truly life-generating, and you are able to hold yourself in that place consistently.

The modern individual cannot achieve this by partaking of his or her unnatural world “just in moderation.” A cup of coffee, a single donut, a nine-to-five job, a turkey sandwich, a bag of chips, a coke, a cigarette, an hour of television, a single beer, a small burger, a couple of medications, a bit of Metamucil, a touch of milk of magnesia, twenty minutes of exercise three times a week, and a prayer before bed—here is a life of modern moderation. Here is something utterly out of balance.

Equilibrium is the sweet spot in all things. It is the place to look when you are healing aspects of yourself that seem impossible to overcome. Ask yourself in each case, “What is disrupting my equilibrium here?” Then apply what you learn, and remember to employ joy to keep your passions as a truth-seeker and change-maker positive and fruitful.

Energy: The Simple Truth

Dear Energy-Seekers:

Energy is a hot topic in our culture, and for many it is the ultimate currency. Just as all the misleading dietary information is confusing people, so is all the erroneous information about energy. I think it’s high time to set the record straight about energy. Fortunately, like all great truths, it’s really very simple.

There is only one thing to know about energy. Energy is a current of electromagnetic force of dual polarity (-)/(+). In the physical body it is at its greatest potential when the body’s cells are clean and clear. You are ENERGIZED when you have open pathways (no mucoid matter in the bloodstream, lungs, or throat and no waste matter stuck in the intestines or intestinal walls) and when the energy can move freely between the cells and tissues. I like to imagine cells conducting energy by “kissing” each other with electricity. Energy can only reach the cells and conduct if there are no blockages.

Let’s be absolutely clear: You do not become energized by consuming calorie-dense substances. Instead, you become energized by removing blockages between cells and within pathways so that the electromagnetic current can travel like a lightening rod through the body. If you are feeling weak or lacking power for your workouts when you eat this way, it is ALWAYS due to one or more of the following three reasons:

1) You have awakened matter that your bowel cannot release on its own. Therefore, your center is blocked and the awakened poisons have been released into your bloodstream, making you feel ill and tired. You need either bowel cleansing or a less than perfect meal to give your bowel a break from the transition to clean foods—one or the other, but preferably the former.

2) You are so addicted to the stimulation of cooked proteins, whey or soy protein workout products, coffee, refined sugar, flour, soda, etc. that your body is not coping with the change. The problem is that you’re having withdrawal symptoms—not that the clean diet is failing to deliver energy. You probably need to transition more slowly. People are often deceived into thinking they need meat when, after a week of a meat-free diet, they go out and eat a steak and suddenly feel “energized.” This is a FALSE FIRE!

The wave of false fire is not real energy. It is just the stimulation of the acidic animal protein that an addicted body responds to. Additionally, when the animal is killed, the “fight or flight” hormone—adrenaline—surges through the bloodstream of the frightened animal. That adrenaline is in the meat when consumed, and is often confused with a feeing of energy—again, FALSE FIRE! Acidic, dense substances—whether animal flesh, dense nut/seed bars, protein bars, or yogurt and granola—can never give you real energy, only stimulation. To an unclean body addicted to the stimulation, continuing to consume such substances feels good and familiar. Stopping too suddenly leads to withdrawal symptoms and a feeling of weakness. Hence, people often associate a clean diet with feeling weak. This is why making a gradual TRANSITION away from the old foods, rather than going cold turkey, is so crucial. It will help you avoid many pitfalls!

3) You are mentally programmed to believe that only consuming calorie-dense substances can sufficiently energize you for a workout. The fact is, eating muesli, granola, a power bar, or a shake before a workout can actually physically drain energy from you. But mental programming is a powerful thing; for years you’ve been absorbing the erroneous propaganda that you need these substances for energy. So now it’s a case of mind over matter: work to reverse your thinking and align with the greater truth.

Most of all, keep an eye on the big picture of cleansing. A clear body is an energized body. Arnold Ehret said it nearly a hundred years ago in his equation: Vitality = Power – Obstruction. “Power” may not have been the clearest word choice. “Electromagnetic Conductivity” is more accurate. So, with all due respect to Ehret, I’ll take the liberty of rephrasing his equation: Vitality = Electromagnetic Conductivity – Obstruction.

Every time you’re feeling a little less energized than you want to feel, revisit these three points. Ask yourself how clear your pathways are and how well your cells are conducting the electromagnetic power. Even when you’re blocked, this energy is always lying dormant within you, ready to be unleashed. Do all you can to remove any blockages, and then watch your body come alive with the blissful vibration of life force conducting through you!

Then do the happy dance!

Here’s to your energy-kissing cells,

Natalia

The Endocrine System: The Fountain of Youth, Part Two

Ah…the ever-sought-after fountain of youth—that elusive, fantastical, mysterious, alluring mistress. From Alexander the Great to Ponce De Leon, explorers and people of powerful repute throughout history have searched the earth for the fabled waters that would restore their bodies and free them from the clutches of physical degradation and death. Does this miraculous liquid exist? If so, how has it gone undiscovered all this time? Could it be in a most obvious place?

Yes, of course, it exists. But we will not find it in a garden in Peru or developed by research labs in the next decade or by ingesting the latest super-food. The fountain of youth flows within one of our most intriguing internal systems: the endocrine system. Let me pull back the curtain on this exquisite system that has been overlooked, mistreated, and misunderstood by both naturopathic and allopathic medicine for eons.

The endocrine system is both a physical and an energetic network of powerful centers that both support the body’s essential functions (like governing sleep patterns, procreation, and metabolizing sugars) as well as the lesser known functions (like raising consciousness and psychic seership of all kinds).

The endocrine system is made up of the ductless glands of the body that govern and secrete precious hormones essential to life. I will list them here in order from top to bottom: pineal, pituitary, thyroid, thymus, pancreas, adrenals, gonads. These hormones are secreted into the bloodstream. Most people have a dysfunctional endocrine system because modern living essentially paralyzes the proper function of these powerful but delicate glands. Regular emotional stress, unfit substances, and childhood immunizations put the adrenals into a hyper-attentive state, at times causing them to over-secrete adrenaline (the “fight or flight” hormone).

The pancreas, located above the adrenals, is the processor of sugars and starches. Since most modern food is starch-based (grain) and the key ingredient of most processed food is sugar in some form, you can see how the pancreas can quickly fall to ruin by the over-secretion of insulin and glycogen (think: diabetes, blood sugar imbalances, pancreatitis). The gonads (ovaries and testes) are also over-excited. The overload of inorganic estrogen that comes from a polluted, radiation-rich environment as well as common approaches to sexual activity and care of these glands create estrogen imbalances, ovarian cysts, painful menstruation, and ultimately ovarian cancer and infertility.

It’s no surprise that the fabled fountain of youth remains elusive to modern man. If our bodies are so corrupted and our brain activity so limited (in the brain, the pineal and pituitary glands of the endocrine system are greatly abused, to the point of outright dystrophy), how can we recognize our true nature? It is not until the body is sufficiently purified that this system can function well. Only then can we “re-member” ourselves.

FROM ANIMAL MAN TO SOLAR MAN

The electric aspect of man and the power of the ductless glands are the two major keys to elevating Animal Man to Solar Man. It all starts with a clean-celled, electrically conducting body (see “The Fountain of Youth, Part One”). From there, the energy starts to awaken and balance the endocrine glands. When these glands secrete properly, a natural, blissful sensation rings through the body. The cord of energy that runs through the very center of the spinal cord (the Sushumna) starts to carry the vital electricity through the body at a higher vibration, stimulating the energy centers (chakras) to spin at their optimum speeds—like whirling orbs or planets. Each chakra corresponds with a gland of the endocrine system, and the more our thoughts and actions align with life-generating truths, the more we are elevated to our solar state and enjoy the unparalleled vitality, both mental and physical, that comes with it.

If you apply this information little by little, you’ll enjoy much improved heath, vitality, natural beauty, and a degree of renewed youth. If you apply it as the most sincere, dedicated undertaking of your life, you will soar to even greater heights. There are no judgments—each of us must proceed in the way that speaks to us.

There is much more to be said on this subject and I encourage you to delve deeper if you’re interested. The information is available to all who wish to follow it. We should all know our potential. For what good is it to spend years in school if we are never educated about the highest life form on the planet—the human being! How long must we struggle under the illusion of education, consolidating facts and figures, while our minds and bodies waste away prematurely?

The Dark Ages of the last 1,600 years, which began with Constantine’s determination to destroy all traces of the ancient writings and teachings of the higher truths about the human body, have left humanity with little choice: The small fragments of knowledge in the alternative heath and spirituality community leave us hardly any better off than our mainstream contemporaries. But those among us who are courageous enough to live the higher truths have open access to them. If we are our brother’s keeper, we must offer our brother water, and let him decide whether or not to drink it.
